Change your beneficiaries now or it will be 'plan default' ... SEGIP sends letter alerting employees to update beneficiaries designation
A "plan default" puts the control of who receives your benefits in the hands of Minnesota Life without your input. If you do not make a designation with Minnesota Life, your beneficiary of record will be "plan default." You may want plan default; however, if you’d like to designate who you would like your beneficiaries to be, please follow these steps:
1. Visit www.lifebenefits.com
2. Enter your username: SOM and your eight digit employee ID number (for example it may be, SOM12345678.)
3. Enter your password: Eight-digit date of birth and the last four digits of your Social Security number.
4. Designate your beneficiary by following the instructions on the Web site.
5. Minnesota Life will mail you a confirmation after you complete your designation.
Please complete this action as soon as possible. If you have any questions, contact SEGIP at 651-355-0100. For technical assistance, call 866-293-6047.

MAPE hits the airwaves!
To start off the legislative session, MAPE is rolling out a statewide media buy involving two 30-second ads for WCCO and MNN, which will play during the morning commute. The ads, “Good People, Great State” and “What can you afford to lose” are aimed to raise awareness of our union with Minnesotans in every corner of the state. In addition, MPR will run a 10-second advertisement during the afternoon drive time – it is a shortened version of “Good People, Great State.” All three of the ads will run Monday through Friday until Feb. 26. MAPE staff relied on arbitron ratings to help decide the placement of the radio spots. Please tune in and enjoy!
