Minnesota Association of Professional Employees’ (MAPE) Political Action Committee has endorsed Rep. Tim Walz for governor.
“Tim Walz is an award-winning high school teacher, a leader in Congress as well as the highest-ranking enlisted soldier ever to serve there, and longtime supporter of Minnesota workers and families. He has an economic plan that will create jobs and further propel Minnesota forward. Tim believes, as we do, that union membership is the surest pathway to the middle class. He’ll be on the front lines with us and stand up against attacks on our right to collective bargaining,” MAPE President Chet Jorgenson said.
“Tim will fight for strong education funding for our children, so every student in Minnesota has the opportunity to learn in the best schools in the country. He’s seen firsthand the importance of closing the gap that leaves too many children behind. He supports affordable health care for all Minnesotans, and Tim and his running mate Peggy Flanagan will work to ensure everyone in our state has access to affordable care in their communities,” Jorgenson added. “MAPE is proud to endorse the Walz-Flanagan team for Minnesota.”
“MAPE’s Political Action Committee unanimously endorsed Tim Walz for governor because we know he has the intelligence, temperament and shared values to bring Minnesotans together to advance our state’s economy, support workers’ rights, the freedom to organize and a viable pension system for people who dedicate their lives to public service,” said Cathleen Cotter, chair of MAPE’s Political Action Committee.
MAPE represents more than 14,500 professional state government employees.
