MAPE's Political Action Committee (PAC) has reinstated its endorsement of Rep. Debra Hilstrom for state attorney general.
“Representative Debra Hilstrom has been a longtime friend to MAPE and workers across Minnesota. Throughout her legislative career she has fought for fair wages, worker protections, employee contracts, secure retirements, affordable health care and paid parental leave. MAPE members are pleased to support Debra Hilstrom as Minnesota’s next attorney general,” MAPE President Chet Jorgenson said.
Hilstrom received MAPE’s Legislator of the Year award in 2009 for providing strong leadership and a voice for workers. She has also received awards for promoting the health and well-being of Minnesota’s children from the Children’s Defense Fund, and the Minnesota County Attorneys Association gave her its public service award for her efforts to enhance the quality of justice in Minnesota.
“Representative Hilstrom’s proven track record of defending fairness, advocating on behalf of Minnesotans, and dedication to consumer protection makes her the strongest Attorney General candidate.
As a prosecutor, she protected vulnerable adults from exploitation, and other citizens from abuse and neglect. Debra’s experience as both a lawmaker and a prosecutor make her uniquely qualified to be Minnesota’s next attorney general,” said Cathleen Cotter, chair of MAPE’s PAC.
