Tired of the games? Join us for shutdown rally on Wednesday, July 6

We Want To Work For Minnesota

Shutdown Rally is Wednesday, July 6

If you’re tired of the political games being played at the expense of hard-working state employees and vulnerable citizens, join us Wednesday, July 6, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the State Capitol.

Instead of creating jobs, the Legislature is creating unemployment. They’ve shut down the state and caused the biggest lay off in Minnesota history. A “cuts only” budget will eliminate 30,000 public- and private-sector jobs – permanently.

Note: Please bring a non-perishable food item, as we will be collecting for local food shelves. Also, representatives will be on hand to offer resource information to laid-off employees.

Join your fellow state employees and concerned citizens as we approach the one-week mark of the shutdown we will return to the Capitol to ask our elcted leaders to compromise and find a solution.

Shutdown - Legislative events update

The shutdown will end when a few key legislators decide it is time to compromise, as Governor Dayton has done time and time again. We can help to encourage this compromise by putting as much pressure as possible on specific legislators.

These events will help end the shutdown by convincing key legislators to support a compromise. If you plan to attend one of these events please email kkillian@mape.org.
