MEETING MINUTES- October 27th, 2008

Meeting was called to order by Sarah Gutzman.

Treasurer, Richard Hanson - Absent, there was no report.

Director Report: Carla - There was a Board of Directors meeting on October 10th where they covered the Employee Rights Committee. They are looking for more stewards to be more involved with grievances and arbitrations.
There have been some added Membership Committee Members, and there are some openings on the Negotiations Team.
After the Delegate Assembly the BOD dealt with some of the resolutions that were not finished there.
MAPE Membership survey will be sent to people's homes. Open enrollment for Insurance opens on November 5th. There are a few changes in the polices.

A motion was declared for the Holiday Luncheon and for it to be catered on Dec. 15th, and to also cancel the November meeting.
Motion passed.
BA Report: Kathy Fodness - Medical debt cards will be mailed to everyone's homes. Please look for it.
There was a discussion on the Budget Task Force flyer.
Broad grievances were discussed within the local. 
Joe Kastens from membership recruitment attended the meeting. Talking to all the locals and really trying to emphasize full membership vs. fairshare. He feels negotiations are going to be very difficult this year with the economy and the more full members we have, appears to have more people who care about their benefits. We are currently at 62% full member.
